To protect the interests of people subject to DNA profile analysis, the use of DNA profiles in civil and administrative proceedings as well as for purposes other than official proceedings is comprehensively regulated. The conditions for a DNA analysis and the requirements, assignments and duties of the DNA analysis laboratories are clearly defined. The following legislation has been effective since 1 April 2007:
