Corruption (GRECO)

What is the issue?

The Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) is an institution of the Council of Europe which aims to improve the capacity of its members to prevent and fight corruption. Its mandate includes certain aspects of good governance. Switzerland automatically became a member by ratifying the Council of Europe Criminal Law Convention on Corruption in 2006. GRECO is based on the norms and standards of the Council of Europe and proceeds by mutual evaluation. These evaluations, which are carried out in thematic cycles, result in reports containing recommendations addressed to the country concerned, the implementation of which is then examined in the context of a compliance procedure.
